David Arthur Meyer, 65, of Edgewood, Iowa, died on Friday, August 8, 2014, at Finley Hospital in Dubuque. He was born on November 27, 1948, on the family farm near Colesburg, the son of Marcellus and Violet (Elledge) Meyer. David was raised and educated in the Edgewood area, and was a 1967 Edgewood-Colesburg graduate.
David worked at various locations, Hoelschers in Earlville, but the majority of his life was spent at the Edgewood Shell Station which he later owned and managed.
On September 14, 1974, David was united in marriage to Jewel “Lynn” Hastings. Three children were born to this union. They later divorced.
David enjoyed fishing, hunting, the Green Bay Packers, and the New York Yankees. His biggest joy was his kids and grandkids.
Survivors include his three sons, Chris (Tammie Jensen, fiancé) Meyer of Cuba City, Wisconsin, Justin (Lindsey) Meyer of Manchester, and Matt (Melissa) Meyer of Edgewood; five grandchildren, Colten, Conner, Rylan, Alyson, and Logan; three brothers, George “Mike” (Cynthia) Meyer of Edgewood, Robert (Christine) Meyer of Nevada, Iowa, and Mark Meyer of Long Grove, Iowa; and his former wife, Jewel “Lynn” Dahling of Strawberry Point.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Marcellus and Violet Meyer.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at the Edgewood Bible Church in Edgewood, Iowa. Officiating: Pastor Jim Rinehart
Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood and one hour before the service on Wednesday at the church.
Interment: Hansel Cemetery – Rural Garber, Iowa
