As we get closer to week seven of the high school football season tomorrow night for area squads, the list of unbeaten teams stands at 34 in all six classes. The lone KMCH area coverage school with no losses and a record of 6-0 are the class 1A 7th-ranked Wildcats of Maquoketa Valley. The Wildcats have played consistent football once again this season and are outscoring their opposition 177-70. Third-year head coach Wes Wilson says the togetherness of his players is one of the main ingredients for their success:
After 3 district games, Maq. Valley shares first-place in district No.
5 with Tipton, who they’ll host next week. The top four teams have set themselves apart from the rest of the district. Just where exactly they will finish for playoff positioning with home field advantage on the line and the district champ remains undecided. This week’s opponent is 5th place Bellevue. Coach Wilson knows his team can’t afford a let down with the district’s top two teams remaining on their schedule to end the regular season:
The Wildcats travel to Bellevue for a JV/Varsity doubleheader starting at 5pm Friday evening.
