The class 4A 3rd-ranked West Delaware Volleyball team added to their program history last night with a 3-1 win over 2nd-rated Solon to secure the 5th WaMaC conference title and first since 2007:

MATHER1 10-11

That’s 18th-year head coach Brett Mather who says his team believed they had what it took to take down Solon for the first time since 2010:

MATHER2 10-11

It was a exciting atmosphere with a crowd of a little over one-thousand fans on-hand for Cancer awareness and Senior night to honor the two Hawk seniors.  Maddie Coates says her team was definitely ready to play:

COATES1 10-11

The win was the first in 5 tries for the Hawks against Solon and it improved their record to 27-3 and increased their win streak to 17 matches. Senior Paige Soppe says winning the conference title the way it happened was a great feeling:

SOPPE1 10-10

The Hawks will wrap up their regular season Saturday tournament schedule tomorrow at the Westside Invitational in Cedar Rapids starting with action at 8:30am.

Other area scores:

Alburnett 3, East Buchanan 1
Cascade 3, Monticello 1
