Manchester’s first Weatherization Challenge was Saturday morning… Several area businesses and organizations each formed teams to help some Manchester residents weatherize their homes. Shirley Welte from Black Hills Energy was one of the committee members who helped organize this new program for the community. Welte and the Black Hills Energy team joined up with the Good Neighbor Home on Saturday to work on one of the homes that signed up for the program. She says she was pleased with the turnout of teams and homes.
Jeff Madlom was part of the Lions Club group that volunteered to help a local homeowner.
West Delaware student Ryan Kelley was volunteering his Saturday morning with the Weatherization Challenge.
The St. Paul’s confirmation group was helping out at the home of Doris Marsh. She says she’s grateful for these kinds of programs.
GNB Bank and the Earlville Boy Scouts were among the other groups helping to weatherize homes. Welte says they plan to hold the program again next year.
