Eileen (Hefel) Theisen, Manchester

Eileen (Hefel) Theisen, 93, of Manchester, Iowa, formerly Dubuque, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.  Eileen was born on October 27, 1919, in North Buena Vista, Iowa, to Martin and Lucy (McTaggart) Hefel.  She married Cletus Theisen of Holy Cross, Iowa.  Eileen and Cletus lived their married life and raised their five children in Key West, Iowa.

In 2000, Eileen moved to Manchester, Iowa.  Most recently, Eileen resided at the Good Neighbor Home.   She loved to play Euchre, was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed traveling.

Eileen was loved and cherished by all.  She loved her family, her faith, and her friends.  She has touched so many lives.  She lived life to the fullest.  She was a great lady and we are proud to call her Mother, Grandma and Granny T.  Most of all, she was our very best friend always.  We will miss her dearly, but we are comforted to know that she is indeed in Heaven!

Eileen is survived by four children: Janet (Delbert) Klein of Neillsville, Wisconsin; Carol (Gary) Cooper of Manchester, Iowa; Norma (Thomas) Gibbons of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; and Duane (Janet) Theisen of Dubuque, Iowa;  a son-in-law, Richard Kuhn of Barrington, Illinois; 17 grandchildren:  Stephen Klein, Kelly  Day, Julie Kuhn, David (Stacey) Kuhn, Nancy (Carlos)Abrams-Rivera, Steven (Andrea) Kuhn, Kari Cooper, Dr. Kristine Cooper, Kathryn Sands, Sandra (Patrick) Kayser, Michael (Kaja) Gibbons, James (Iva) Theisen, Paul Theisen, Annette (Timothy) Boelk, Marie (Blair) Heier, Timothy Theisen, and John (Heather) Theisen;  30 great-grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren,  and 5 step-great grandchildren.  Along with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, Eileen is survived by many nieces and nephews and many friends.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Cletus in 1979, daughter Joan Kuhn in 2000, and granddaughter Amy Klein in 1987.  She was the last of her immediate family and was also preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses – Helen (Jess) Maiers, Anna (Jerry) Schwirtz, Harold (Lorainne) Hefel, Ralph (Helen) Hefel, Dolores (Leo) Dix, Joseph (Anna) Hefel, Robert (Theresa) Hefel, LeRoy (Marian) Hefel, Mary (George) Simon, and Rita (Robert) Howe Brown.

Mass of Christian Burial:  11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, Iowa.  Celebrant:  Rev. Joseph Schneider.

Visitation:  9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester.

Interment:   Mount Olivet Cemetery in Key West, Iowa.
