The final week of the regular season in high school football is here with the anticipation of the playoffs simmering on the backburner for several area teams as they try to better their postseason situations.

The West Delaware Hawks have the 2nd spot of class 3A district 5 wrapped up with home field advantage guaranteed for first round play next week. Hawks head coach Doug Winkowitsch has his team focused in on finishing the regular season by not looking ahead and says he is very proud of his team:

WINK1 10-25

More from Coach Wink with Sports Director Jon Swisher on the Smitty’s Football Friday Night Pregame Show at 7pm tonight before live coverage of West Delaware Football tonight at 7:30 with Jamie, Aaron and Bill.

Our area online and playback game of the week features class 1A 7th ranked Maquoketa Valley in Stanwood taking on North Cedar. The Wildcats have the district five title but are looking for the outright championship and the second undefeated regular season in school program history with the previous time coming back in 1989. MV head coach Wes Wilson knows his squad will have to be ready on the road against a much improved North Cedar team:
