Charges Filed Against Oelwein Teens Involved in September Rollover

Charges have been filed in a Fayette County accident that involved five teenagers. We told you last month about an accident that happened shortly after midnight on September 19th on 50th Street east of R Avenue. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says 14-year old Hannah Guyer of Oelwein was driving a high rate of speed with three passengers riding on top of her car. She lost control and the car went into the ditch, rolling onto its top. Guyer and her passengers – which included two 15-year olds, a 14-year old and a 12-year old all from Oelwein – were injured and taken to the Mercy Hospital. After a lengthy investigation, the Sheriff’s Office has charged Guyer with Failure to Maintain Control, No Seatbelt and No Driver’s License. Two of the passengers were also charged with No Seatbelt, and two other passengers were charged with Clinging to a Vehicle. All were cited into court. Guyer was placed in a juvenile holding facility.
