First round of the high school football playoffs begin tonight around the state in week 10 of the season.
Several area teams begin their pursuit of improving their records and moving on to reach their ultimate goals.
In class 3A, the West Delaware Hawks at 8-1 host 4-5 Marion inside Brown Field. It will be the first meeting for the two schools on the football field since facing each other in back to back 1st round games in 2008 and 2009, with the teams splitting those match-ups. The last time Marion has played in Manchester dates back to late October of 2005 when the Hawks edged the Indians 21-20 in a week 8 district contest. Tenth year head coach Doug Winkowitsch remembers those games well and looks forward to reuniting the series with Marion:
