The National Farm Toy Show is going on in Dyersville this weekend. Called the “granddaddy” of all toy shows, this show fills the National Farm Toy Museum, Beckman High School, the Dyersville Commercial Club Park and various outdoor locations with farm toy vendors and collectors. The Toy Show also has several events, including the Sanctioned Micro-Mini Pull, the Kids Sanctioned Pedal Pull, and the National Farm Toy Show Auction (which will take place Saturday at 10 am). In addition, Dyersville’s farm toy manufacturers will hold open houses, visitors can stop by Dyersville’s farm toy stores and Mercy Hospital is holding its annual holiday festival. And each year, the National Farm Toy Museum inducts a new member into the National Farm Toy Hall of Fame – this year, it’s toy collector Earl Terpstra, who also served as one of the managers of an early toy show in Maryland. Hours for the Farm Toy Show will be Friday noon to 6 pm at Commercial Club Park, with general admission from 5 to 8 pm; Saturday from 9 to 6; and Sunday from 9 to 2. Thousands of visitors make their way to Dyersville each year for the National Farm Toy Show, doubling Dyersville’s population. Show organizers say it not only gives a boost to the Dyersville economy, but it helps out surrounding towns as well, with many guests staying in the surrounding communities, including Manchester and Dubuque.
