Several special events and services will be held throughout the weekend and into Monday to observe Veterans Day. The town of Strawberry Point will hold a new event this year. The Quad-County Veterans’ Celebration will be held on Saturday. Strawberry Point Mayor Dale Fox explains.
A lunch will be served after the parade with a ceremony.
There’s a new veteran’s memorial that will be dedicated in the town of Dundee on Sunday. The memorial, which is located in the city park, was built with donations and funds received through the Foundation for the Future of Delaware County. Sunday’s brief dedication ceremony will be held at 2 pm.
The Ryan American Legion will hold a Veteran Day Salute at the Ryan Memorial Sunday at noon. At the event, they’ll hold a dedication of the Fallen Soldier Monument and honor five area World War Two veterans killed in action. Everyone’s also welcome to join them for lunch at the Ryan Legion from 12:30 to 2 pm.
And in Manchester on Monday, two Veterans Day services will be held… The first will take place at 10:30 am at the West Delaware Middle School Gym, and the second will be held at 1 pm at St. Mary’s School. And a light lunch will be served between the two events at the American Legion Post. The public is invited to attend all three events.
