By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

The class 1A 7th-ranked Maquoketa Valley Wildcats have earned the chance to take on top-ranked Iowa City Regina in a class 1A quarterfinal rematch from a year ago, this time on their home field. Both teams have a record of 11-0, Regina has won three state championships in row. The went on to win the 1A crown last season after beating the Wildcats 38-14 in the quarter’s in Iowa City.  Third-year MV head coach Wes Wilson talks about the Runnin Regals, who will enter the contest on that 53-game win streak:

WILSON1 11-8

The focus for the Wildcats has been driven by the goal of getting another shot to knock off the Regals. Coach Wilson knows his team will have to limit the mistakes in all three phases of their game but believes his team matches up better with them this time around offensively:

WILSON4 11-8

The running attack led by Junior Ryan Parmely leads the way for Maq. Valley.  Parmely has 2,402 yards and 23 touchdowns rushing, which ranks him second in the state throughout all six classes. With their 2nd round win Monday night, the Wildcats won the 14th consecutive home game dating back to late September of 2011. Coach Wilson thinks that will be a factor for his squad especially for the seniors who will playing football in Delhi for the final time:
