Changes at Betty’s, Don’s and J&D Menswear

In addition to visiting Barron Motor Supply, the Manchester Chamber Ambassadors also visited Don’s Appliance, J&D Menswear and Betty’s Bread Basket on Thursday. Don’s Hardware used to be located in the Masons’ building on South Franklin Street, but the Masons sold the building to Franklin Street Brewing Company so Don’s Appliance moved down the street to 120 North Franklin Street. Owner Don Dietrich says though he no longer has hardware in his store, he is staying busy selling appliances, snowblowers, lawnmowers and even fireplaces. The Ambassadors also stopped by J&D Menswear on the corner of Main and Franklin for their Close-Out Sale. J&D Menswear is going out of business, with plans to close at the end of the year. No other business has stepped forward to purchase the shop. And the Ambassadors enjoyed lunch downtown at Betty’s Bread Basket and greeted new owner Jackie Mormann, who purchased the restaurant from Betty Kruse last month.
