Delaware County kids are invited to an Open Youth Archery Shoot this Sunday. The Delaware County 4-H Shooting Sports Club is organizing the shoot. Jay Scovel, the club’s shot gun instructor, says the volunteers are excited to work with area kids who have an interest in the outdoors.
Any kid in grade 4 through 12 who is at least nine years old can participate – and they don’t have to be in 4-H. Scovel says if the kids have an interest in archery, air rifles, fishing, shot guns, muzzle loaders or wildlife skills, then the Delaware County 4-H Shooting Sports Club is a good club to join.
Parents are also welcome to attend Sunday’s Open Youth Archery Shoot. The shoot will be held at 2 pm indoors at the Delaware County Rec Center in Manchester. Thanks to grant funding from the Foundation for the Future of Delaware County, the 4-H Shooting Sports Club was able to purchase an archery backstop, which allows the club to practice indoors during the winter months. If your child may be interested in joining the Dealwrae County 4-H Shooting Sports Club, or if you’d like more information, contact the Delaware County Extension Office.
