Ambrose C. Langel, 92, of Manchester, Iowa, died at the Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. He was born on December 15, 1920, in Elma, Iowa, the son of Vitus and Josephine (Meyer) Langel. Ambrose attended school in the Dyersville area.
On November 5, 1952, Ambrose was united in marriage to Arlene Bockenstedt at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg. Together they farmed near Dyersville then east of Dundee. They retired to Manchester in 1991. Ambrose had resided at the Good Neighbor home since May of 2012.
Ambrose will be sadly missed by his wife, Arlene of Manchester; two sons, Daniel (Janice) Langel of Dundee and Richard (Sue) Langel of Manchester; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Marcella Steger of Cascade, Leona Niehaus of Dyersville, Helen Krogmann of Dubuque, Alma (Sylvester) Loesche of Dyersville, and Evelyn Gaul of Dubuque.
Ambrose was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Sylvester and Raymond; three sisters, Lucille Langel, Esther Sullivan, and Mary Neuhaus, and two step-grandchildren, Rodney Cozad and Chad Cozad.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. Celebrant: Rev. Joseph Schneider
Visitation: Friends may call from 3-7 PM on Friday, November 22 , 2013, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester where there will be a 3:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Friends may also call after 9:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday.
Interment: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery - Manchester, Iowa.
