GNH’s Festival of Trees Raises Record $50,000

The Good Neighbor Society in Manchester has announced that last weekend’s Festival of Trees event raised a record 50-thousand dollars. The money that was raised will be used to help remodel the Good Neighbor Home’s south wing. Any businesses and individuals donated their talent by decorating and donating trees, mantles and centerpieces that were purchased by the public. Several awards were given – Lake Design and Decor won The People’s Choice Award for their “Christmas in the Woods” Tree, Barb Sailer’s “Gold and Silver” Tree won Best Traditional Tree, The Coffee Den’s “Golden Years Tree” won Best Themed Tree and Marv and Barb Waterhouse’s tree with a Christmas carol theme won Most Unique. The first-ever Bacon Bake-Off was also a big success. Vicki Witte won first place with her apple bacon pie, second place went to Dorothy Lake for carrot bean casserole and third place went to Sue Morris for her milk chocolate bourbon bacon cake balls. The winner of the one-thousand dollar money tree was Austin Hansel of Edgewood. Organizers say over 13-hundred people attended this year’s Festival of Trees and Gala.
