HS Basketball; Hawk Boys Return To Action On Home Court Tonight

By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

wdhawksThe West Delaware Hawks boys basketball team is getting ready for their second game of the new season tonight against non-conference opponent Denver. It will be the first meeting between the two schools as the game fills an empty non-conference date in both of their schedule’s.

In an out of the normal Tuesday/Friday game week routine, the Hawks are coming off of a tightly contested opening night 43-39 overtime win over Vinton-Shellsburg on Tuesday night. The Cyclones are 1-0 as well after taking down Nashua-Plainfield Tuesday at home, 65-48.

The Hawks will have three more home games in a row after tonight in a less-travel early season first half of the schedule. First-year head coach Matt Uthoff hopes his team can use the momentum it built on the first night and take advantage of being at home again tonight and beyond:

UTHOFF1 12-5

Game time is slated for 7:30pm after the Freshmen and Sophomore games which start at 4:30pm. All the play-by-play coverage here from KMCH Sports will start around 7:20pm with Sports Director Jon Swisher and former Hawks basketball coach Corey Coates live on Mix 94.7 and KMCH.com.
