By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:
In area basketball last night, two schools got together for an non-conference match-up as Ed-Co hosted North-Linn in Edgewood.
On the boys side, the Lynx cruised past the Vikings 53-19. The North Linn girls were also victorious 69-37.
Tonight in area boy’s basketball action:
One of our newest area boy’s coaches, Creig Dunlap at Maquoketa Valley will have his toughest challenge yet with Tri-River Conference favorite Springville coming to Delhi. Coach Dunlap and the Wildcats are off to a 3-0 start and he says things are very positive right now:
Williamsburg @ West Delaware Monticello @ Camanche
Anamosa @ Clear Creek-Amana
Central City @ East Buchanan
Center Point-Urbana @ Western Dubuque
Marion @ Independence
And on the girls side:
Maquoketa Valley one of the TRC favorites battles challenger Springville. Eighth-year head coach Scot Moenck is mostly happy with where his team is right now in the young season with a 4-0 mark:
The Wildcats have played the first four games without junior point-guard Ashley Holtz who helped lead the 20-6 Wildcats 2A state semifinalist squad from a year ago. Coach Moenck says his team is going to have to be ready with the demanding schedule before the Christmas break:
The girl/boy varsity DH starts at 6:15 tonight in Delhi.
Elsewhere in girls play:
West Delaware @ Williamsburg Central City @ East Buchanan
Clear Creek-Amana @ Anamosa
Edgewood-Colesburg @ MFL-Mar-Mac
Western Dubuque @ Center Point-Urbana
Independence @ Marion
Monticello @ Camanche
We will feature area wrestling tonight live from Colesburg with Ed-Co hosting Maquoketa Valley, North Linn and MFL-MarMac. Jamie Vaske and Roger Reed will take the air live on KMCH and kmch.com shortly before 6:30 pm.
