John Zoller, age 66 died Thursday December 12, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital,  Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 Monday morning, December 16, 2013 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call from 2 until 6 Sunday.  Interment will be in the Bowens Prairie Cemetery rural Monticello.  Pastor Paul Wood will officiate at the services.  Thoughts, Memories and Condolences may be left at goettschonline.com.

Surviving are 2 children, Michael (Jen) Zoller, Olin, Jennifer Zoller, North Liberty, 2 grandchildren, Ethan and Audrey,  a sister Sarah Zoller and a brother Geoffrey Zoller both of Cascade.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Wayne and his uncle Willie.

John Joseph Zoller was born March 13, 1947 at the John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa.   He was the son of Joseph and Yvonne Will, Zoller.  He graduated from the Monticello Community schools in 1965.  John worked at K&P Chevrolet in Monticello before serving in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.   Following his return from service John drove a school bus for the Western Dubuque and Marion School Systems.   He also worked for John Deere and Clemmons Oldsmobile in Dubuque.   John was united  in marriage to Kathy Vacek on June 23, 1978 at St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Monticello.   John worked at Schoon Motors in Monticello and Anamosa and at Kromminga Motors in Monticello.  In recent years he worked as a owner operator, truck driver leased to JMS.     John was a member of the Monticello Eagles Club.   He liked to sing karaoke, he loved to dance, tell jokes, cook and go to the casino and was very much a car guy.
