The West Delaware Boys and Girls bowling teams traveled to the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center to compete against the Marion Indians yesterday afternoon. Both teams brought home victories and improved their records to 2 and 1.
The WD Boys posted a great score of 3304 to Marion’s 2773. The hawks were led by Zach Weber with a 520 series followed by Terrel Haas 479 series, Dylan Werner 441 series, John Miester 396 series, Seth Brokens 393 series and Micky Lindsay 313 series. In the baker round the Hawks averaged 215, they rolled scores of 171, 246, 189, 257, and 212 for a 1075. Head coach John Chapman remarked that his squad bowled real well and each of their bowlers are very capable of these kind of scores and also that it was really nice to see the great scores in the baker round.
The WD Varsity Girls got back on track with a nice win over the Indians by a score of 2548 to 2199. The hawks were led by Riley Cole 404 series followed by Kaitlyn Salow 308 series, Hope Mozingo 308 series, Kaitlyn Werner 305 series, Bergan Blommers 285 and Chelsie Mangold 279 series. The Hawks bowled a 928 bakers round with scores of 198, 222, 198, 131, and 179. Head coach Ken Boesenberg commented that the scores were more like what the girls should be bowling at this point in the season, he added this is a hard working group who have set some very attainable goals. For the first time ever, the Hawk girls will compete in the Cedar Rapids Prairie Baker Tournament tomorrow, the tournament will consist of a 14 game round Robin Tournament and finish with a 8 team bracket tournament.
The Hawks next boy/girl meet competition is a home contest next Friday at Lighting Lanes against Waterloo Columbus.
