West Delaware Wrestling Opens WaMaC Schedule With Victories

The West Delaware Wrestling team took to the mat last night in their first WaMaC conference wrestling action of the season as they went 2-0 on the night defeating Mount Vernon 43-21 and the host Dewitt Central Sabers 52-18.  In the first dual against the Mustangs the Hawks won 9 out the 14 matches including a Brent Lammers 8-3 upset of defending state runner up Trey Ryan at 170 pounds. In the second dual, the unranked Lammers capped off his impressive night with a 1-0 win over 8th ranked Drew Schroeder and the Hawks got pins from Logan Reilly, Coy Roussell, and Scott Taylor to finish off the Sabers. Hawks head Coach Jeff Voss says that conditioning played a big part in winning some of the close matches:
Both the West Delaware Varsity and JV teams will be in action tomorrow at the Cedar Rapids Extravaganza Five Seasons Duals at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School. We’ll have live coverage on KMCH.com starting at 9:30am then the finals can be heard on KMCH around 2:00pm.
In other area wrestling scores from last night;
Maquoketa Valley topped North Linn 60-12 and East Buchanan fell to top ranked Alburnett 54-24.
