January is National Mentoring Month. The Delaware County Board of Supervisors signed a proclamation acknowledging Mentoring Month on Monday. Mentoring Coordinator Ellen Krogmann says it’s a month to promote mentoring and recruit those who may want to get involved with the program.
There are currently thirty-four active matches of adults mentoring children in Delaware County, and Krogmann says the numbers have been increasing, especially in the Maquoketa Valley area. Kids don’t have to meet any requirements to have a mentor, other than living in Delaware County. Krogmann says mentoring can a number of different activities.
And during the month of January, you can find information about mentoring around the county.
You can also get more information by contacting Ellen at 563-379-3454 or go online to helpingservices.org. And mark your calendars for Saturday, March 22nd. The Mentoring Connection’s annual bowling party will be held at Lightning Lanes in Manchester. Anyone who would like to form a team and help raise money for the program by bowling that day is welcome to contact Krogmann for more information.
