Dean Herman, 86, of Earlville, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Dyersville, IA.
Family will greet friends 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Earlville. Cremation was held per family wishes. Burial will be at a later date.
Dean was born November 3, 1927 in rural Colesburg, the son of Leonard and Estella (Woeste) Herman. He attended Oak Grove Grade School in Elk Township and graduated from Colesburg High School in 1945. Dean served with the United States Army as a Supply Sergeant during World War II. Dean farmed with his brothers his entire life in the Earlville area.
In his spare time, Dean enjoyed repairing radios and TVs. He was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church, Colesburg.
Dean is survived by one brother, Wayne Herman of Earlville; a niece and nephew, Darla (David) Gaskill of Manchester and Lyle Herman of Earlville.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Estella Herman; and two brothers, Art and Clyde Herman.
The family wishes to thank the Mercy Medical Center in Dyersville and the Dyersville paramedics for Dean’s care.
