Richard “Dick” Hart, Manchester

Richard  “Dick” Raymond Hart, 78, of Manchester, Iowa, died on Monday, January 13, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.  He was born on October 2, 1935, in Manchester, the son of Ray C. and Nellie (Speck) Hart.  Dick graduated from Manchester High School in 1954.  He served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958, his tour of duty included 18 months in Germany as a guard of the Nike missiles.

On October 25, 1959, Dick was united in marriage to Kathleen “Kay” Cose in Waterloo.  Together they resided in Manchester, and owned and operated Hart Furniture until they retired in 1998.

Dick was a member of First Baptist Church now Cornerstone Community Church his entire life.  He loved to fish, garden, and was an avid local sports fan. His greatest joys were to attend his sons’ school and college activities and to spend time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Kay of Manchester; two sons, Douglas R. (Susan) of Lakeville, Minnesota, and their children Bryan and Mason; Thomas J. (Jolene) of Farmington, Minnesota, and their children, Alexander, Sabrina, and Sophia.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service with Military Rites:   10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014, at Cornerstone Community Church in Manchester, Iowa.  Officiating:  Pastor Chris Henkaline

Visitation: 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester and one hour before service on Friday at the church.

Family Interment:   10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014   Oakland Cemetery  -  Manchester, Iowa
