Old New Vienna School Demolished

Saint Boniface School in New Vienna was torn down Wednesday. The Catholic grade school had been part of the community for nearly a century, sitting right across the street from Saint Boniface Catholic Church. In recent years, it housed the younger grades at Hennessy with the older grades attending the school in Petersburg. Last May, the New Vienna school closed it doors for good due to low enrollment numbers and combined the Hennessy student body into one building at the Petersburg school. Crews demolished Saint Boniface School Wednesday, with some old students and New Vienna residents stopping by to watch, take photos and capture video. Some even grabbed a brick from the demolished school as a keepsake. (Photos courtesy of Russell Helle)
