By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

The West Delaware girls basketball team will be back action Saturday night in a class 4A regional-semifinal against a very familiar foe, one of their highway 20 rivals, Western Dubuque in Epworth. The Hawks are 17-5 after a first round 16-point victory over Dubuque Wahlert Wednesday night at home. The Bobcats are ranked 8th with a 19-2 mark and are well rested after a bye in the first round. Western Dubuque won the Northeast division and tied Williamsburg for the overall WaMaC conference title. It’ll be the third meeting of the season with the Bobcats winning the first contest in Epworth back on Jan. 24th by 22-points. the second time was much closer with the Bobcats surviving in Manchester by 4-points. Hawks veteran head coach Harold Shepherd knows his team is looking forward to the challenge of facing the other WD one more time:

SHEP1 2-21
