HS Basketball; Saturday Night 2-22 Results and Monday Night 2-24 Games

The Maquoketa Valley boys basketball team improved their record to 11-11 after a 61-51 victory over Lansing Kee in Postville Saturday night. The Wildcats will play at Central Elkader against Postville tomorrow night at 8pm.

In other area boys play;

Monticello advanced on to their district final Tuesday night in Epworth against highway 151 rival Cascade. The Panthers beat Clayton Ridge 64-41 Saturday night in Dyersville before the Cougars ended Beckman’s fine season in a down to the wire contest 48-45.

On the girls side;

West Delaware had their nice season come to an end against 4A 8th-ranked Western Dubuque 41-37 in Epworth. The Hawks finished at 17-6 tying the second best record in girls’ program history with the 2006-07 squad. The Bobcats, now 20-2 move on to the regional final in Independence versus 5th-ranked Waverly-Shell Rock Tuesday night.

In CLASS 3A games with the winners moving on to state next week;

Center Point-Urbana 38, Hampton-Dumont 33

 At Independence

Crestwood 56, Mount Vernon 50

In class 2A girls regional final play tonight;

The 22-1 5th-ranked North Linn will try to get to the state tournament for the second time in program history. The Lynx are in their 3rd regional final in a row this time against unranked 20-2 Iowa Valley in Tiffin at Clear Creek-Amana high school. We’ll have all the coverage live on KMCH.com starting at 6:50 with Sports Director Jon Swisher.

Also in 2A;

Second-ranked Cascade at 24-0 will take on Iowa City Regina in Tipton.

In 1A;

Midland of  Wyoming will play Janesville in Independence.

The class 3A boys will start up their post season tonight with 1st round district action. At Dubuque Wahlert, the third meeting of the WD’s will take place in the 6:30 game. The Hawks are 6-15 while the 8th-rated Bobcats are 16-5. Western Dubuque won both WaMaC conference Northeast division meetings during the regular season by ten on Jan. 24th in Manchester and 23 points in Epworth on Feb. 7th.
