VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT LAKE DELHI SATURDAY AFTERNOON
- If you are able to assist at Lake Delhi, please call 563-922-2058
for directions. Wear appropriate clothing and bring a pair of work gloves.
- Delware County Outreach at the Community Services Building at 601 Grant Street in Manchester will be open until 4 PM Saturday if you need help. They have flood clean-up kits and information about flood clean-up. Call 927-5116 with questions.
IF YOU HAVE DAMAGE...
- Delaware County residents affected by flooding should send a damage report
by email to macc@manchesteriowa.org.
Include your name, phone number, address and brief description of flood damage.
Put "flood damage" in your subject line
- Delaware County residents affected by flooding should meet with Delaware County Community Services to let them know your unmet needs - personal necessities, appliances, etc. They are open at 601 Grant Street in Manchester. They will also come to you if you can't get to them - call 927-5116.
- Strawberry Point residents affected by flooding should call 211 to register contact information.
ASSISTANCE
- Red Cross shelter open at Earlville Elementary School Thursday and Friday
starting at 3 pm. Providing a place to stay, hot meal, minor first aid and shoulder
to lean on. Be at the shelter by 8 pm Thursday night if you plan to spend the
night.
- If you need items like water and other basic needs or items, contact Delaware
County Community Services at 927-5116.
- Rental housing assistance is available to qualifying flood victims through the Iowa Rental Help program - call 877-386-9104 or go online to www.IowaRentalHelp.com
- If you need food or clothing, contact Operation New View. The Delaware County Food Pantry will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week for anyone in need of food. Please use the West door. Bleach, garbage bags, and paper towels will also be available.
- If you need to talk about your flood experience, you can contact Delaware County Community Services. You can also call the Iowa Concern Hotline at 1-800-447-1985 or the Abbe Center 24-Hour Phone Line at 927-6700.
CLEANING UP
- Manchester residents and other city residents - you are NOT allowed to bring
flood debris to the county landfill - you need to put your flood debris curbside
and the city will pick it up. Manchester residents should call City Hall by
today (7/29) to have your flood debris picked up.
- The county landfill near Delhi is now open temporarily to take flood debris - this is only for rural Delaware County residents (that includes Lake Delhi residents) - hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm and Saturday from 8 am to 2 pm. Delaware County flood victims will be able to bring flood debris there free of charge. Lake Delhi residents - the LDRA is arranging to have your flood debris picked up - make sure it is put near a roadway so they can get to it. Lake Delhi residents should call Barb to have your debris picked up @ 922-2058 or 319-210-9378. The Lake Delhi Recreation Association will take care of the fee.
- Delhi residents - the City of Delhi will have a temporary truck route on Friday and Saturday for the refuge trucks that are collecting flood debris - the temporary route will be Gay Street and Lake Street. This is out of concern for the safety of those setting up for Delhi Lions Pride Day. There will also be no parking allowed on Gay Street and Lake Street on Friday and Saturday.
- Strawberry Point residents - there will be a special curbside pickup for
water-damaged items. Leave damaged materials at the curbside by 6 am Saturday.
- Flood debris MUST be separated in specific piles - a pile for appliances,
a pile for electronics, a pile for hazardous materials and a pile for things
like furniture, carpet, food, etc.
- Manchester residents who need help cleaning up - call Laura @ City Hall at 927-3636
- Lake Delhi residents who need help cleaning up - call Barb @ 922-2058 or 319-210-9378
- Used sandbags - Manchester residents can bring those back to the City Shop, while Delaware County residents (including Hopkinton) can bring used sandbags to the County Shop north of Delaware between 7 and 3:30 pm.
- Discard any food or drink items that have come in contact with floodwaters, including canned goods, water bottles, plastic utensils and baby bottle nipples. Have your water tested before using - contact the Delaware County Water and Sanitation Office. For more info about food safety, check out Delaware County ISU Extension's website or contact their office.
PUBLIC INFO
- If you find any boats or vehicles, or parts of boats or vehicles, report that
information to Andrew Kyle of the DNR at 563-590-1945. They will be contacting
every boat or vehicle owner when it is found. You can not go onto private property
to retrieve your possessions.

- If you are a Lake Delhi resident familiar with the lake area that is available to help direct volunteers, call Barb DeKlotz and ask for Sue.
- A fund has been set up for monetary donations for Delaware County's flood victims. The 2010 Delaware County Flood Disaster Relief Fund was formed by the Foundation for the Future of Delaware County. You can make checks out to: 2010 Delaware County Flood Disaster Relief Fund/CFGD. Checks may be dropped off at any F & M Bank or Community Savings Bank location. Checks may also be dropped off at the Foundation for the Future of Delaware County office at 200 East Main in Manchester (Chamber office). Checks can also be mailed directly to: CFGD, 2010 Delaware County Flood Disaster Relief Fund, 700 Locust, Suite 195, Dubuque, IA 52001. The fund will aid persons, businesses and communities impacted by the flood.
- If you'd like to donate to flood victims, drop items off at Delaware County Community Services at 601 Grant Street in Manchester. Items needed include bottled water, personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies, indoor and outdoor tools and supplies, towels, bedding, fans, bug spray, sunscreen, socks, underwear, kids clothes and kids toys, crossword puzzles, kitchen items, household items, small or large appliances, furniture - all in gently used or new condition please. Also accepting gift cards for food and supplies at local stores or restaurants.
- Blessed Trinity Cluster Churches (St. Mary's in Manchester, St. Pat's in Ryan and Immaculate Conception in Masonville) are collecting items for flood victims in our communities. Items needed include laundry detergent, TP, personal hygiene items or insect repellent. If you'd like to donate, drop your donations off at the churches.
- To donate supplies, stop by the Kwik Stop locations in Delaware or Dyersville and donate a case of water for five dollars - they'll match that with a second case. All donations will be distributed through the Chamber of Commerces in the affected areas of Manchester, Delhi, Dyersville and Maquoketa. Kwik Stop is also accepting donations of cleaning supplies, bleach and ammonia, face masks, gloves, paper towels, cleaning towels, scrub brushes, mops and buckets, blankets, toiletries, pet food and supplies and monetary donations. Kwik Stop will match all donations.
