JohannesArlen_edited-1Arlene F. Johannes, 87, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade.

Friends may call from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at Kramer Funeral
Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a Vigil Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friends may continue to call from 11:00 – 12:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. James Bergen, SVD will officiate.

Arlene was born June 10, 1927, in Earlville, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore and Frances (Welchert) Roling. She married Arthur C. Johannes on January 18, 1949. Together they farmed near Earlville in Delaware County for over 20 years and then semi-retired in Dubuque.

Survivors include her children: Gary (Mary Kay) Johannes of Greeley, Roger Johannes of Earlville, Linda (George) Clark of Dubuque, Julie (Tim) Brant of Scales Mound, IL, Sue Walsh of Iowa City, and Nancy (Rob) Wegmann of Dyersville;
21 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren;
siblings: Al (Mary) Roling of Oregon, Art “Mike” (Paula) Roling of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Roling of Earlville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur in 1989, a daughter-in-law, Kathy Johannes; siblings: Rose Fessler, Agnes Sellner, Amanda Schraad, Mary Cherne, Hilda Lehman, Leona Lukan, Viola Sellner, Helen Bessey, Raymond Roling, Donald Roling, Ted Roling and LaVerne Roling; sisters-in-law: Rita Boge and Germaine Fendell.
