The pharmacy, formerly known as Blakesley Drug, changed ownership January 1st when Ashley Brehme purchased the business from Bill Blakesley.
Brehme had been an employee at Blakesley Drug for several years – even job shadowing as far back as her high school days.
Blakesley, who ran the pharmacy for 36 years, says he knew Brehme would be the perfect person to take over the business once he retired.
Brehme, a hometown girl and West Delaware grad, appreciates what a small town pharmacy is all about.
Customers haven’t seen a lot of changes at the pharmacy in the last couple months – other than the name change and new store signs. Brehme says the services and employees have stayed the same. But there could be a couple of changes down the road in the pharmacy industry itself.
Brehme says she’s looking forward to building upon relationships. And that’s exactly what Blakesley is going to miss about the business – the people, especially his employees. He says the days after holidays were always a fun time at the pharmacy.
Many well-wishers stopped in during Thursday’s open house from 11 am to 3 pm, and the Manchester Chamber Ambassadors celebrated Brehme’s new ownership with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning.
