Monday, September 6th, the 70th annual St. Boniface Parish Labor Day Picnic will be held at New Vienna. Serving a ham and fried chicken dinner and fresh homemade pies from 11 am to 7:30 pm. Adults $9, children 5-12 $4.50 and under 5 free. Silent auction, and entertainment by Lyle Beaver Trio from 12:30 to 4:30 pm and Thunder Road Productions from 5 to 9 pm. Held rain or shine.
Fall story times at the Manchester Public Library begin on Tuesday, September 7th. Toddler tales are held Tuesdays at 11 am for 1 to 2 year olds. Wee Read is held Thursdays at 10:30 am for 2 to 3 year olds. Mother Goose is held Fridays at 10:30 am for 3 to 5 year olds. No registration required.
A program called "Powerful Tools for Caregivers" will be held for the next five Tuesdays, starting Tuesday, September 7th. Held at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester from 6 to 7:30 pm. To register, call Joan or Nancy at the Scenic Valley Dubuque office at 563-588-3970.
Thursday, September 9th, a Diabetes Update will be held at Regional Medical Center from 6:30 to 8 pm. Door prizes, information and new recipes. Meet the new dietician Cara Deutmeyer. Free program with helpful information for individuals with diabetes, pre-diabetes and their families.

Saturday, September 11th, an hour of prayer will be held on the north steps of the Delaware County Courthouse from 9 to 10 am. Take a stand for America and bring your family, flag and faith. People who attended the Washington D.C. event recently will be sharing their experiences.
Saturday, September 11th, Lamont Masons and Eastern Star Organizations invite you to attend the annual Turkey Fest at Grace United Methodist Church in Lamont. Serving starts at 5 pm. Serving turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, corn and homemade pies. Adults $8.50, under 12 $4 and preschool free.
Saturday, September 11th, the Onslow and Center Junction Fire Departments Pork BBQ will hold a "Remember 911" event from 4 to 8 pm at the Center Junction Community Building. Serving pulled pork BBQ, baked beans, coleslaw, baked potatoes and desserts. Tickets are $7 in advance or $8 at the door. Sunday, September 12th, Coggon Fire and Rescue Association will hold its annual Fall Breakfast from 7 am to 1 pm at the Coggon Fire Station. Fresh made-to-order omelets, sausage, bacon, hashbrowns, pancakes, coffee, juice and milk. Free will donation. Proceeds will help with continued training and equipment purchases.
Sunday, September 12th, the Delhi-Hopkinton Knights of Columbus will hold a breakfast from 7:30 am to noon at St. John's Church in Delhi. Serving ham, sausage, pancakes, hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, applesauce, cinnamon rolls, milk, coffee and juice. Adults $6.50, ages 5-12 $3 and under 5 free. Carryouts available. Proceeds benefit local non-profit groups.
Sunday, September 12th, the 24th annual New Vienna Benefit Tractor Pull. This year's event will benefit Adam and Scott Conrad and Brad Mahoney, who are still hospitalized after receiving severe burns in a house explosion this summer. Pull starts at 11 am south of the ball diamond. Fast paced action with two sleds on a double track. Children's pedal pull at 1 pm. Lunchstand on the grounds.

Saturday, September 18th, there will be a 5K Off Road Run/Walk at the Osborne Center near Elkader at 9 am in the Pioneer Village. Participants will run about three miles on trails leading from the Pioneer Village to the Archery Range behind the Osborne Pond. Registration fee is $15. Saturday, September 18th, the Delaware Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a Steak Fry and Hog Roast from 5 to 8 pm. Serving ribeye steak or pulled pork sandwich, hashbrown casserole or baked potato, choice of salads and dessert. Steak fry costs $12, hog roast costs $7. Raffle drawing. All proceeds benefit the fire department.

| Delaware County flood victims who need to register
for federal assistance through FEMA should call 1-800-621-FEMA - that's
1-800-621-3362. The Disaster Recover Center is open in Earlville at
the old Great Plains building at 2655 210th Street on the west edge
of town. Open Monday through Fridays from 9 am to 7 pm and Saturdays
from 9 am to 5 pm. The center will be open this Sunday and Monday,
September 5th and 6th. You do not need to make an appointment
before stopping by the center. The center provides flood victims with
answers to disaster questions, info about state and FEMA programs,
help with completing paperwork and rebuilding tips and advice.
Delaware County Community Services still has basic necessities and other items available for flood victims who need them. Stop by the center at 601 Grant Street in Manchester or call 927-5116. They have furniture, toys, supplies and bottled water, as well as services available for those who struggling with anxiety and depression. Brad Mahoney and Adam and Scott Conrad were severely burned in a house explosion near Peosta in early August. All three men are hospitalized at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Donations can be made at any of the seven Community Savings Bank locations. The "Request Clothing Closet" that is housed at the Manchester United Methodist Church is accepting donations of gently-used "seasonably-appropriate" clothing. Due to a shortage of space, they are not able to accept fall and winter clothing, toys and misc. household items. Donations may be left at the "Request Clothing Closet" door on Monday and Thursday between 8 am and 4 pm. The donations will be shared with others in the community. The Camp Courageous Manchester Garage Sale is open for the season. The garage sale is located at 913 East Main Street. Accepting and selling new and used clothing, furniture and other items. Hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and Saturday 8:30 am to noon. Everyone is welcome to "Second Helpings" at Manchester United Methodist Church--it's a free supper every Monday. Sons of the American Legion will meet the second Tuesday of every month at 7 pm at American Legion Post #45 in Manchester.
