Original KMCH owner Tony Coloff was inducted into the Iowa Broadcasters Hall of Fame Thursday and was presented the award by his son, Jim Coloff. Coloff bought his first station in Forest City, Iowa in 1978. After signing KMCH on the air in December of 1991, Tony, his wife Sue, and son Jim acquired radio stations in Cedar Falls, Mason City, and Charles City. Tony is still active in the operation of Coloff Media and developed his own oldies format which airs on KCHA-AM in Charles City and KCFI-AM in Cedar Falls. Tony was also named the IBA’s “Broadcaster Of The Year” in 1995.
