Friday night’s Delaware County Relay for Life is expected to have raised close to 70-thousand dollars. As many of you know, the money raised at the event goes to the American Cancer Society to fund cancer research and raise cancer awareness. And each person walking during the Relay for Life at the fairgrounds in Manchester had their own special reason for doing so… Ted Francois was walking in memory of his dad.
Duane Donnells of Manchester was walking to honor his wife’s memory.
Kathy Rempe of Manchester was walking in memory of her husband.
Rempe says it was important to her to participate in the Relay for Life.
Family Affair team member Al Wilson of Manchester says the Relay for Life is a great cause.
Walkers made laps around the track at the fairgrounds, with hundreds of luminaries lining their path. Each paper sack that lit up the night beared the name of an area resident who has fought cancer or who has passed away from cancer. Over 11-hundred luminaries were sold. This year’s Delaware County Relay for Life committee thanks all the participants, donors, sponsors and volunteers who helped make the night a success.
