An Elkport man faces charges following a hit and run involving a bicycle. Clayton County Deputies were dispatched to the scene of a hit and run accident with injuries involving a large white truck and a bicyclist near the intersection of Littleport and Fantail Roads late Saturday afternoon. Victims were able to photograph the license plate which showed registration to 46 year old Alan Steger of Elkport and were able to identify the suspect through a drivers’ license photograph. Deputies arrived at his residence and identified the vehicle in the garage. Steger admitted to Deputies that he had struck a byciclist and was arrested and transported to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office. At the Sheriff’s Office Steger showed signs of impairment when given a field sobriety test and had breathalyzer result over the legal limit of.08. Steger has been charged with Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense and Personal Injury by Vehicle, which are both serious misdemeanors.
