Former Independence Wrestler Named IIAC Wrestler of the Week

A former Independence High School wrestler has been named the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s “Wrestler of the Week”.

Kyle Fank has earned the honor for the first time in his career. Fank, a former high school state runner-up finisher, is a junior wrestling for Wartburg College.

He had a win last Thursday when top-ranked Wartburg won its 25th consecutive Iowa Conference Championship in a 32-0 win over 16th-ranked Loras. At 197 pounds, No. 2 Fank won by 10-5 decision over No. 10 Guy Patron Jr. It was Fank’s 20th win in a row and 27th win of the season.
