Iowa Governor Terry Branstad delivered his final “Condition of the State” address Tuesday morning.
Cuts…RIkayCOS3Republicans now control the legislative branch of state government and Branstad called on the GOP to change Iowa’s collective bargaining law and “defund” Planned Parenthood.
Branstad is also calling on legislators to address the spike in traffic fatalities. He’s asked for enhanced penalties for drivers caught texting behind the wheel, plus new 24/7 state monitoring of habitual drunken drivers.
Branstad also promises his administration will develop new standards for computer courses in K-12 schools. He ended his address by talking about his upcoming assignment as U.S. Ambassador to China.
State Representative Lee Hein, a Republican from Monticello, told KMCH it was great to hear Branstad’s final speech in person.
We’ll hear more from Representative Hein and his thoughts on Branstad’s final address coming up in Friday’s KMCH Legislative Update around 12:30 pm here on Mix 94.7.
