The class 3A-5th ranked West Delaware baseball team came up with a WaMaC conference doubleheader sweep on the road in Mount Vernon last night. The first game was filled with lots of offense in a 16-14 9-inning near 3-hour contest. Sophomore Max Ridenour earned his first career varsity win by coming in the extra innings and holding the Mustangs off. The offensive theme continued for the Hawks early in game 2 as they got up scoring 4 runs in the first inning and never looked backed going on to win 9-1 behind an outstanding performance by senior pitcher Jake Voss who allowed 1-hit and struck out 7 Mustang batters collecting his 3rd win of the season. Although the offense was very consistent, Junior Ty Cassutt had a sensational night at the plate with 7 hits and 3 rbi to lead the way. The Hawks improved to 9-2 overall and will return home to play Clear Creek-Amana on Wednesday night.
