HS Baseball/Softball; Thursday 5-29 Results

The West Delaware softball team started their WaMaC east division play last night in DeWitt. taking on Central. On a long night of softball with game one lasting a little over two hours, the Hawks won 7-5 in 8 innings. Game two saw the Hawks jump out in front then add more runs to eventually to win 9-4 in a game that lasted just under two hours. Hannah Cole did a solid of containing the Sabers offense in both contests, receiving help from sophomore’s Leah Bishop and Kristen Wegmann in the 2nd game. Offensively Bridget Hoffman led the way with 8 hits, 4 in each game with 4 rbi’s, Ashley Heims had 6 hits, Emily Thole had 4 hits and Haley Morrison added 4 as well including the night’s only home run in game 1. The Hawks improved their record to 3-0 and stay on the road tonight for a non-conference meeting with North Scott in Eldridge.
