HS Basketball: Friday Night Preview

By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

The first Friday night of the new year offers a full slate of area high school basketball. Our featured game from KMCH Sports is the Class 3A 2nd-ranked, 8-0, West Delaware Hawks hosting 6-1 Solon. Both teams are 4-0 and tied for first place at the top of the WaMaC East Division. All the coverage from Seedorff Gymnasium begins around 7:30pm live on KMCH and KMCH.com with Sports Director Jon Swisher and Bill Logan.

On the girls side:

An intriguing match-up will take place at North Linn High School as the Class 2A seventh-rated 11-0 Lynx host Class 1A top-ranked 9-0 Springville in a battle of the top two teams in the Tri-Rivers Conference with 5-0 records. After the Lynx started their week on Tuesday night with a 20-point win at Maquoketa Valley, the Orioles and Monticello remain on their schedule this weekend. Thirteenth-year head coach Brian Wheatley knows it is the toughest week of their season so far and his squad will have to be precise in their execution for the results they want:

The game will tip-off at 6pm with the boys to follow.

The 4-5 West Delaware Hawks will travel to Solon to face the 3-7 Spartans, we’ll have score updates from that one during our live coverage.
