The class 3A unranked Beckman girls basketball team pulled off an upset to end their regular season last night at home on senior recognition night in Dyersville against class 4A 12th-rated West Delaware. The Blazers who led for most of the 2nd half had to come back in the final seconds of overtime to get the 35-34 victory. The Hawks had a rough shooting night, especially from three-point range, going 0-for-18 until Bethany Hahn made the first and only trey with 3.9 seconds in regulation to tie up the game at 30 and send it to the extra period. Along with the 5 seniors honored before the varsity game, Beckman head coach Chad Thomason presented Hawks head coach Harold Shepherd with a basketball to help commemorate his 750th career victory back on Jan. 3rd. With the win Beckman improved to 8-13 overall and now will prepare to host Monticello in a class 3A first round regional in Dyersville on Saturday at 7pm, a game that can be heard here from KMCH Sports. The Hawks are now 15-5 and will have one more regular season game, a make-up contest at Marion Thursday night, a game that can also be heard on KMCH and KMCH.com.
