The class 4A 12th-ranked West Delaware girls basketball team ended their regular season on the road in positive fashion last night at Marion. The Hawks jumped out in front 6-0 early and never trailed beating the Indians 52-42 in a WaMaC non-divisional contest. Senior Reann McCarty led the squad offensively scoring 18 points, Kasey Palmer had 10, Emily Thole 9 and Bethany Hahn 7. Hawks head coach Harold Shepherd knew his girls were determined to play better than they did in their loss at Beckman Tuesday night and they showed it right from the start:
The Hawks improved their record to 16-5 and finished 3rd with a 12-2 mark in the conference play. They will be off until next Wednesday when they open up first round regional play at home against Dubuque Wahlert.

Post season play got underway for class 1A teams;
Starmont had their season end with a 40-35 loss at Central Elkader, the Stars final record is 4-17.
East Buchanan was edged by Don Bosco, 50-49 in overtime at home in Winthrop. The Buccaneers final mark is 8-14.

The WaMaC Northeast division title will be on the line in Dyersville as Beckman welcomes in Western Dubuque. The Bobcats have a perfect 7-0 divisional record as they won the first meeting 64-47 on Jan. 16th.
