HS BASKETBALL: Tuesday Night 1-10 Preview

By Jon Swisher- Sports Director:

The Class 3A second-ranked 9-0 West Delaware Hawks Boys Basketball team will try to remain unbeaten as they host Highway 20 rival 4-5 Western Dubuque tonight. The Hawks, who are one of seventeen teams in the state still undefeated, are off to their best start without losing a game in school program history since the 1999-2000 team went 24-0 before falling in the 3A title contest. Ironically both head coaches of tonight’s match-up were members of that team, Coach Dennis Geraghty of the Bobcats then West Delaware’s head coach and Coach Matt Uthoff as a senior guard.  The Hawks are a top of the East division of the WaMaC conference with a 5-0 mark while the Bobcats are 1-4. Hawks head coach Matt Uthoff says his team will not overlook anybody especially a Coach Geraghty led squad:

Coach Geraghty is well aware of how good his former players’ team is and understands the challenge they present for his Bobcats:
