HS Boys Basketball; Haldeman Verbals with UNI

By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

Western Dubuque junior all-state basketball guard Spencer Haldeman has verbally committed to play for the Northern Iowa Panthers. Haldeman was named a Class 3A first-team all-stater and a WaMaC conference first teamer this past season after averaging 24.3 points.  As a second year varsity player for the Bobcats, Haldeman scored a school-record 44 points in a district final loss 82-79 back on Feb. 27th to eventual 3A state champion Dubuque Wahlert. He had one of the most remarkable fourth quarters in Iowa high school boys basketball history. Scoring 27 points, hitting eight three pointers, in the near upset of the top-rated Golden Eagles. Veteran Bobcats head coach Dennis Geraghty commented in the post-game show with Sports Director Jon Swisher about his talented player:

GERAGHTY1 5-14

After that amazing performance the Drake Bulldogs offered Haldeman a scholarship the next morning. He had other offers from Northern Colorado, South Dakota and South Dakota State.
