In the class 2A regional dual held last night at West Delaware high school, ninth-ranked Independence advanced to the state duals for the first time since 2009.  The Mustangs defeated No. 8 Charles city 46-26 to set up the 3rd dual of the year with # 5 West Delaware, who beat  15th-rated Union 38-30.  Just like the last two duals the Hawks got out to  an early lead but Indee stormed back and had a 5 point lead with 2 matches left.  The Mustangs’ Drew Davis used a reversal and a two point near fall at the end of the 2nd period and hung on to defeat Logan Reilly 4-0 and clinch the meet as the Mustangs went on to win 32-30. The Mustangs improved their dual meet record to 25-5 and received the sixth seed to face 3rd seeded Albia in the first round of the State Duals next Wednesday morning at 11am inside Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
