The Manchester Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors made several stops recently. One of the visits was to Regional Medical Center’s Hospice of Comfort, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Coordinator Amanda Kalb says Hospice of Comfort staff and volunteers have traveled thousands of miles to deliver hospice services – from Elkader to Monticello, Winthrop to Dyersville, and all communities in between.

The Manchester Ambassadors also visited McDowell Truck and Auto Repair’s new location on Highway 13 just north of Ryan. Owner Richard McDowell explained how he had purchased an existing truck repair, towing and snow removal business, grew it and eventually expanded into automotive repairs, tire sales and U-Haul rentals. The Ambassadors also stopped out at Pin Oak Pub and Links to meet the new manager, Jeff Johnson. Johnson has past restaurant experience, including three years as manager of the Cedar Lodge Steakhouse and Crazy Moose Saloon in Manchester, and plans to bring a few changes to Pin Oak, including the addition of fresh seafood to the menu.
And the Independence Area Ambassadors recently made a visit to a new business in town. Robinson Engineering Company is located at 332 1st Street East in downtown Independence. Robinson Engineering focuses on civil engineering, including storm water damage and other environmental projects.
