A two-year old girl was airlifted to the hospital after falling out a second-story window of a Manchester apartment building. Manchester Police say they were called to the Southtown Apartment Building on South Franklin Street around 5:30 Sunday night. Police say the child’s mother, 27-year old Stacy Neuhaus of Manchester, allegedly placed her 2-year old and 4-year old children on an inside window sill in a second-story apartment and opened the window so the children could look outside. While she was cooking, she saw the two-year old child push out the window screen and fall out the window. She was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City with an apparent head injury, and released from the hospital the next day. Both children have been placed in the custody of the Department of Human Services. Neuhaus was arrested Monday in Iowa City and charged with two counts of Child Endangerment. Manchester Police say Neuhaus had just been arrested Saturday night for an altercation between her and her mother in which Neuhaus threatened to kill her mother. Neuhaus had admitted to police that she had been under the influence of methamphetamine in the prior days.
