The North Linn Wrestling team concluded its season with their annual awards banquet held in Walker on Sunday night. The Lynx wrestlers were 5-12 in dual meets this season and had two wrestlers qualify for the state meet. Freshman Kyler Schott at heavyweight and freshman Brock Henderson who placed 4th at 106 pounds. 13th year head coach Brad Bridgewater said although it wasn’t the season they had hoped for he saw improvement all season from his athletes.
It was a tough season for the lone senior Kyler Henderson who battled injuries throughout the season but Coach Bridgewater credits Henderson for the leadership he showed throughout the entire season.
With former North Linn state champions running practice this off season Bridgewater feels that kids choosing to continue wrestling will determine the success of next year’s team.
Individual Awards were also given last night as Most Improved JV wrestler went to Alex Wascow, Most improved Varsity wrestler was awarded to Dalton Bell. Kyler Schott joined the pinners club for having 20 or more pins in one season. The most courageous wrestler was Dakota Lopata. The Blood Sweat and Tears award went to Kyler Henderson, Coaches award was given to Jacob Rawson, and Wrestler of the Year honors went to Brock Henderson.
