RAGBRAI will be headed through the area this summer, and organizers traveled the route on a “Pre-Ride” last week. This year’s route includes pass-through towns and stops in Fayette, Buchanan, Delaware and Clayton counties. Riders will make their way through Oelwein and Otterville before spending the night in Independence on Friday, July 25th. And on Saturday, July 26th – the last day of the week-long ride – RAGBRAI will make its way through Winthrop, Lamont, Strawberry Point, Edgewood, Elkport and Garber before ending their ride in Guttenberg. Twenty-five experienced cyclists rode the entire RAGBRAI route last week with local committee members to inspect the roadways and meet with community leaders. RAGBRAI director T.J. Juskiewicz told KMCH the pre-ride went great and they’re excited to return to the area.
