The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Jones County on Saturday night.
Crews surveyed damage in the west-central part of the county on Monday.
They say a tornado touched down shortly before 9 pm about four miles northeast of Anamosa just east of Highway 151. The tornado was on the ground for about five minutes, traveling east for nearly three miles before lifting back into the sky.
It has been rated a weak EF-1 tornado, with wind speeds estimated at 100 miles per hour and a max width of about 25 yards.
The tornado caused damage to trees and several outbuildings.
No one was injured in the storm.
