The Summer Farm Toy Show hosted a tractor ride to Edgewood Friday. The tractor ride is held every year, with this year’s route traveling through Delaware County.
It was one of the tractor ride’s largest turnouts ever, with one hundred sixteen tractors participating in the 55-mile trip from Dyersville to Edgewood and back. The tractorcade first took a break for breakfast in Earlville, and KMCH News Director Janelle Tucker met up with them as they made a lunch stop at the Edgewood Locker Event Center. Dave Catlatt from the Sand Springs area had his tractor along for the ride.
Catlat’s no stranger to the ride…
Jane Picray of Monticello and her husband were driving a Farmall H.
She said there were a lot of people out watching along the route.
Jeff Koch of Petersburg was also on Friday’s tractor ride… he’s been on it eight times before.
Other riders, like Jerry Tucker of Dyersville, were enjoying their first tractor ride.
Some of the tractor riders came a long way… Bob Esser made the trip from Cassville, Wisconsin.
Clyde Squires came all the way from Preston.
It was Squires’ first tractor ride and he said it was going well, except for a minor accident involving his buddy on the way up to Edgewood.
They didn’t let that small accident slow them down or ruin their day… All the riders agreed it was the perfect day for a tractor ride.
After their lunch in Edgewood, the tractors headed back out of town, making their way through Greeley and Petersburg before arriving back in Dyersville. You can find photos from today’s tractor ride online at kmch.com and on our KMCH Facebook page.
