West Delaware Bowlers Celebrate Successful Season

The West Delaware Bowling teams celebrated their successful seasons Monday night with their annual banquet at Lightning Lanes.  The Hawk Boys won the Class 1A State Championship and were led by Individual Champ Jeff Boeckenstedt, who was also named to the State Elite Team.  Alex Schnieders finished as runner up and was selected for the Des Moines Register Honorable Mention Team .  The team was recognized for their combined GPA of 3.083 with the Excellence in Academic Achievement Award.  WaMaC All-Academic Honors went to John Juergens and Jim Shover for achieving a GPA of 3.5 or better.  Tristin Kelley was selected to the Class 1A East All-District Honorable Mention Team.  Other awards handed out at the banquet included the JV Newcomer of the Year – Eli Heims and the JV Coaches Award went to John Juergens.  For the Varsity team:  The Coaches Award went to Ian Tibbott; Most Improved Average went to Jeff Boeckenstedt; Captain’s Award and Most Valuable Award went to Jim Shover.

On the girl’s side, Andrea Salow was recognized for her second Class 1A State Individual Championship.  Salow was also selected to the All-State Team and Class 1A East First Team All-District.  Sonya Nefzger was selected to the Class 1A East All-district Honorable Mention team.
The Hawk Girls also received the Excellence in Academic Achievement Award for their combined GPA of 3.39.  Paula Andres-Rodriguez, Kennedi Rogers, Andrea Salow, Abigail Wilson, and Miranda Axline earned the WaMaC All-Academic Award.  Captain’s Awards were given to Miranda Axline and Andrea Salow; Newcomers of the Year – Lacey Cole, and Hannah Axline; Coaches Awards – Kennedi Rogers and Sonya Nefzger; Most Improved – Lacey Cole; and Most Valuable Honors went to Andrea Salow.
